James + Emily - Winter Biltmore Proposal

A beautiful light winter proposal at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina by Biltmore Proposal Photographers Will & Julie Thomas.

James proposed to Emily on the lawn end between Diana and the Biltmore House. We followed it up with a mini engagement session on Diana Hill. Due to tight time constraints, we were forced to shoot at midday which is not optimal lighting. However, we used the lighting we had to get some great photos. When shooting in late winter at the Biltmore House, it is best to aim for around Sunset as there are no leaves on the trees. Not shooting at Sunset can create dappled lighting; this is where you have parts of your face in the shade and other parts well-lit.

However, it’s essential to follow your heart with proposals, so there is no issue shooting midday. If lighting is important to you and you need to shoot midday, you can always head down to the Azalea Garden with an extended session or hope for clouds.

The moment was as timeless as the estate itself, captured amidst the beauty of the season, where romance and history merged to create an unforgettable proposal.
