Wedding Photography FAQ
Every Question, Answered Straight
The stuff couples ask us on planning calls, written down. No vague "it depends" answers where a real one exists. If something is missing, Julie is one call away.
Booking and pricing
All-in collections begin at $6,500. That includes full-day coverage, a second trained photographer, Julie's planning and timeline support, travel within Western North Carolina, full print rights, and a one-week gallery guarantee. Peak Saturdays in October and late spring carry a premium and book 12 to 18 months out. Details on the pricing page.
Because you are planning a wedding, not negotiating a car. Hidden pricing exists to size up your budget on a call. Ours is posted so you can rule us in or out in ten seconds, and so the couples who do call Julie are already comfortable with the number. Nobody enjoys the quote-request dance, including us.
A signed agreement and retainer hold your date, and nothing else does. Julie can check availability during your first call. We cap the number of weddings we take each year, so a held date is a real commitment on both sides.
Yes, two things. First pick of wedding dates before we release them to anyone else, and your full proposal fee credited toward your wedding collection. You already know how we work, we already know your story. Tell Julie when you call.
Reschedules move with you to a new date at no additional charge, subject to availability. Cancellation terms are written plainly in the agreement, no legal scavenger hunt. We do not punish couples for circumstances beyond their control.
Your wedding day
Will and Julie. The same two people from your first phone call. Will photographs, Julie runs the schedule and coordinates with your vendors. We never subcontract your wedding to an associate you have never met.
A list and a system. Julie collects your must-have groupings before the wedding, sequences them from largest group to smallest, and calls names like a friendly air traffic controller. We are usually done in under 20 minutes, which buys you portrait time in better light.
Mountain weather is part of getting married here, and we have shot in all of it. Drizzle often produces the most dramatic images of the day. If it turns severe, Julie has already scouted the covered options and rebuilt the portrait window. You will hear the plan before you have to ask for one.
Yes, and it is included, not an upsell. Every collection comes with a dedicated couples session the day before, the day after, or earlier in your wedding week. Your venue if they allow it, or a location we help you choose. It removes the portrait time-crunch from the wedding day entirely.
No. We are timeline agnostic. It is your day and we build around however you want to run it. If you want recommendations on light and scheduling, Julie has plenty. If you already know what you want, we go with the flow.
We photograph both and will never push you either way. What we will say: the best ceremony photos we have ever ruined were ruined by a guest's phone in the aisle. If you go unplugged, we will get every angle they would have wanted, and they get to actually watch you get married.
Yes, where the venue and airspace allow it. Will holds an FAA Part 107 commercial drone certification, which most wedding photographers do not. Mountain venues with long-range views are where aerial coverage earns its place. Ask Julie whether your venue qualifies.
You are not awkward, you have just been directed badly. We do not arrange you into shapes and walk away. We give you small things to do together and photograph what happens. Ten minutes in, couples forget the camera is there, which is when the good photos start.
Photos and delivery
Sneak peeks arrive within 48 hours. Your complete edited gallery follows within one week, a written guarantee, not a goal. We could deliver faster, and we take the week on purpose: every image gets edited by hand, and your wedding deserves the time. Film scans, if your collection includes film, follow from the lab a few weeks later.
Full-day weddings typically deliver 400 to 800+ images, each one individually color-corrected and hand-edited. No near-duplicate padding, no watermarks, no unedited dumps. Full print rights are included, so you can print anywhere, though our pro lab will outperform the drugstore.
No, and no photographer you should hire says yes. RAW files are the unseasoned ingredients, not the meal. The edit is half the craft you are paying for. What you do get is every finished image at full resolution with complete print rights.
Every camera writes to two cards simultaneously, so each frame exists twice the instant it is taken. Cards are backed up again the same night to separate drives. Your wedding photos are never in one place until they are safely in several.
Yes. Your gallery connects to our professional print lab for prints, canvas, and wall art, and Julie can design a custom album with you after the wedding. Heirloom albums are the one purchase couples consistently tell us they wish they had made sooner.
Film, travel, and everything else
Yes. Will shoots 35mm film alongside full digital coverage, concentrated on portraits, golden hour, and details. Digital guarantees the one-week gallery; film adds the frames that look the way memory feels. The whole story is on our film wedding photography page.
Travel within Western North Carolina is included in every collection: Asheville, Hendersonville, Brevard, Waynesville, Black Mountain, and the Blue Ridge Parkway corridor. Beyond WNC, we take a small number of destination weddings each year, quoted individually.
Yes, fully. Liability certificates go to your venue on request, and most established venues will ask. If a photographer cannot produce one quickly, that tells you something worth knowing before the wedding.
Elopements and small ceremonies have their own coverage options and their own planning needs. Start with our Asheville Elopement Guide, which covers locations, permits, and what small-ceremony coverage looks like.
Call or text Julie at 828-243-2755. She picks up, and if she is shooting, she calls back the same day. Fifteen minutes on the phone answers more than an hour of website reading.
Fifteen Minutes Beats Fifteen Tabs
Julie answers the phone, checks your date on the spot, and tells you honestly whether we fit. Collections begin at $6,500, all-in.
