The Flowers Die. The Cake Gets Eaten. The Photos Are What You Keep.

Every married couple you know has a photography story. Some are good. The other kind sound like this: the gallery that took eleven weeks, the photographer who spent cocktail hour arranging group photos nobody asked for, the "second shooter" who turned out to be someone's cousin with a rented lens.

Wedding photography is a one-shot job. There is no reshoot, no do-over, no "we'll fix it next time." That is exactly why we built our whole process around removing the ways it goes wrong. One price with everything in it. A planner who runs your photography timeline so you never have to. Two trained photographers on site, every wedding. And a finished gallery inside a week, not a season.

We photographed our first Asheville wedding in 2010. Hundreds of weddings, proposals, and elopements later, we have seen every timeline problem, every rain plan, and every uncle with an iPad. None of it rattles us anymore. That calm is most of what you are hiring.

Getting married with fewer than 30 guests? Our Asheville Elopement Guide covers locations, permits, and small-ceremony pricing. Different day, same care.

Documentary First. Posed Only When It Counts.

We photograph what actually happens: the reactions, the details, the seconds between the scheduled moments. Then we borrow you for twenty minutes of portraits in the best light of the day, and give you back to your party. And we are timeline agnostic: it is your day, so we build around however you want to run it.

Documentary

Real moments as they unfold. The tears during the first look. The laughter during the toasts. We are always watching and always anticipating the next genuine moment before it happens.

Editorial

When we pull you aside for portraits, we already know where the light is best and how to use the landscape. Magazine-grade images without spending half your reception away from your guests.

Candid

A grandmother wiping a tear. The flower girl spinning in circles. Your best man patting his pocket for the tenth time. These are the photos that make you feel something in thirty years.

Wondering if your date is open? Julie can tell you in 30 seconds.

We Already Know Where the Light Is at Your Venue

Sixteen years in these mountains means we have shot at nearly every venue in Western North Carolina, usually more than once. That knowledge is time back in your wedding day.

Wedding photography on the grounds of the Biltmore Estate in Asheville

The Biltmore Estate

The most iconic venue in the region. Formal gardens, rolling grounds, and America's largest home as your backdrop. We have photographed more moments on this property than anywhere else on earth, and we know the private corners most photographers never find.

Start with our complete Biltmore guide for spots, seasons, and logistics.

Mountain-view wedding venue on the Blue Ridge Parkway near Asheville

Mountain View Farms and Barns

Exposed timber, string lights, and long-range sunsets behind the Blue Ridge. These venues photograph beautifully in every season and carry that Appalachian warmth guests talk about on the drive home.

We regularly shoot at The Ridge, Claxton Farm, Hawkesdene, and others.

Garden wedding photography at the North Carolina Arboretum near Asheville

Garden and Arboretum Venues

Manicured gardens, stone pathways, intimate courtyards. The NC Arboretum and the private estate gardens around Asheville give you an elegant setting with a natural feel, and each season changes the picture completely.

Controlled settings with minimal weather disruption.

Wedding photography at the historic Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville

Historic Properties and Inns

The Omni Grove Park Inn, the Grand Bohemian, and other historic properties bring built-in atmosphere: grand architecture, mountain views, and indoor-outdoor options that hold up in any weather.

Ideal for larger weddings with on-site catering and lodging.

Outdoor mountaintop wedding photography on Max Patch in the Blue Ridge Mountains

Private Outdoor Locations

Cabin properties, private waterfalls, vineyard terraces, family land. Some of the most meaningful weddings we photograph happen in places that exist on no venue list.

We have photographed ceremonies next to rivers, on mountaintop balds, in converted warehouses, and on the front porch of a family home. The venue does not make the wedding. The people do. We just make sure the light is right.

Tell Julie your vision and we will scout the location with you.

Every Chapter of Your Day

From the quiet minutes of getting ready to the last song on the dance floor, we stay for the whole story.

Getting ready

The anticipation, the nerves, the quiet moments with the people closest to you. The dress, the details, the conversations that happen when you think no one is watching. These images set the stage for the whole day.

First look

If you choose a first look, this is often where the most emotional photos of the day happen. We position to catch both reactions at once. Couples tell us these are the images they return to most.

The ceremony

The vows, the rings, the faces of the people who love you most. We shoot from multiple angles without inserting ourselves into the moment. You will not find us in your aisle or blocking your officiant.

Portraits

We run family formals with a list and a system, usually done in under 20 minutes, then spend the saved time on couple portraits in the best light available. Efficient is romantic when it gets you back to your own party.

Cocktail hour and reception

The toasts, the tears, the dance floor. Pure documentary work: the embraces, the laughter, the details you spent months planning. We stay until the end.

Golden hour and departure

If the timing works, we steal you for a few minutes at golden hour for the most cinematic portraits of the day. Then the sparkler exit, the vintage car, the private last dance. Whatever your send-off is, we close the story with it.

Your Portraits Get Their Own Day

Here is the quiet problem with wedding-day portraits: they compete with your wedding. Every minute posing is a minute away from your people, and the light does not schedule itself around your ceremony.

So we solved it. Every collection includes a dedicated couples session on its own day. The day before, the day after, or earlier in your wedding week if you arrive early. Back in your outfits, at your venue if they allow it, or at a location we help you choose from sixteen years of shooting these mountains. No timeline, no guests waiting on you, no rush.

What that buys you on the wedding day itself: freedom. The couple photos are already made, unhurried and in perfect light, so we can spend the day on the thing you cannot restage, which is your family and friends, together and happy. Couples who take us up on this tell us it changed how the whole day felt.

Arriving early for your wedding week? Pick any spot in Western North Carolina and we will build the session around it. If you want ideas, our favorite photo locations around Asheville is a good place to start dreaming.

Yes, That Is Real Film

35mm film wedding photography at the Biltmore Estate by Forge Mountain Photography

Will has been shooting more 35mm film every season, and couples keep asking for it. There is a reason. Film renders skin, highlights, and mountain light in a way digital still cannot fake, no matter what the preset promises.

Here is how we do it without risk: film rides alongside full digital coverage, never instead of it. You get the guaranteed one-week digital gallery, plus film frames from the parts of the day where film does its best work. Portraits. Golden hour. The quiet details.

If the film look matters to you, read about how we shoot film at weddings, or just tell Julie and she will build it into your collection.

Why Couples Pay More to Worry Less

We are not the cheapest wedding photographers in Asheville, on purpose. Cheap photography is the most expensive mistake you can make on a day that cannot be reshot.

One-week gallery guarantee

Sneak peeks inside 48 hours, your complete hand-edited gallery within seven days, guaranteed in writing. While other couples are still emailing their photographer, you are ordering prints.

Husband-and-wife team

You get Will and Julie, the same two people, from first call through delivery. No photography mill, no stranger showing up with your contract.

Built-in backup, always

Julie is a trained photographer herself. Two shooters, two sets of gear, dual card backups in every camera. A dropped lens or a dead battery is our problem for about ninety seconds, and never yours.

Google Creative background

Before Forge Mountain, Will worked as a Google Creative across the Street View, Hotels, and Trusted Photographer programs. That technical training shows in every frame.

Deep local knowledge

We live here and hike these mountains on our days off. We know when the light shifts at every venue in WNC, which overlooks stay private, and what time the crowds thin out.

All-in pricing

One number covers coverage, second photographer, planning support, WNC travel, and print rights. The price Julie quotes you is the price. Nobody ambushes you with a fee sheet in month eleven.

A couples session on its own day

Every collection includes a dedicated portrait session before or after the wedding, at your venue or a spot we help you pick. No wedding-day pressure, and more candids of the people you love.

Your day, your timeline

We are timeline agnostic. Want recommendations? Julie has strong ones. Already know exactly how you want the day to run? Even better. We go with the flow.

Collections begin at $6,500. All-in.

One Price. Everything In It.

Full-day coverage, a second photographer, a dedicated couples session on its own day, Julie's planning support, WNC travel, print rights, and your complete gallery within the week. Peak October and late-spring Saturdays book 12 to 18 months out and carry a premium.

From First Call to Final Gallery

Refined over hundreds of weddings. Every step handled for you.

01

Talk to Julie

Call, text, or send the form. Julie asks about your date, venue, guest count, and what matters most to you. She checks availability on the spot. Most calls take about 15 minutes.

02

Lock in your date

A signed agreement and retainer secure it. We cap the number of weddings we take each year, and October fills first, so if your date is set, move.

03

Planning and timeline review

Julie reviews your full timeline, coordinates with your planner, DJ, and vendors, and maps portrait windows to the exact sunset time for your date. If your timeline fights the light, she will tell you before it costs you photos.

04

Your wedding day

We arrive early, scout the light, and start shooting. Will covers the day start to finish while Julie keeps the schedule honest. You never think about photography once.

05

Gallery within the week

Sneak peeks land within 48 hours. Your complete gallery, every image color-corrected and hand-edited, follows within seven days, with full download and sharing rights plus access to our pro print lab for albums and wall art. Film scans, if you added film, follow from the lab.

Meet Will + Julie

Forge Mountain Photography · Asheville, NC

We are a husband-and-wife team and we have photographed weddings together since 2010. Will is the photographer. Julie is the planner, the communicator, and the reason every detail comes together on the day.

Before Forge Mountain, Will worked as a Google Creative on the Street View, Hotels, and Trusted Photographer programs. He is not just looking for the pretty picture. He is reading the light, anticipating the moment, and building a story that holds together from the first frame to the last.

Julie handles every conversation from first call through delivery. Timelines, vendor coordination, day-of schedule, the question you were about to ask. If something needs to change on the fly, she has usually handled it before you knew there was a question.

Julie is also a trained photographer. If anything unexpected happens on a wedding day, you are never without coverage. Most photography teams cannot say that.

Questions Couples Actually Ask

Our all-in wedding collections begin at $6,500. That single number includes full-day coverage, Julie's planning and timeline support, a second trained photographer on site, full print rights, and your complete gallery within one week. No fee sheet three weeks before the wedding, no surprise line items on delivery day. Peak Saturdays in October and late spring book first and carry a premium. The full breakdown is on our pricing page.

Sneak peeks land within 48 hours so you can share the news. Your complete gallery follows within one week, guaranteed. Could we go faster? Honestly, yes. We hold the week because every image is edited by hand, one at a time, and craft does not respect a stopwatch. For context, the industry standard is 4 to 8 weeks.

Collections cover the full day, from getting ready through the reception exit. Smaller ceremonies and elopements have their own coverage options; see our Asheville Elopement Guide if that is closer to your plan. Julie will build the right structure around your actual timeline instead of forcing your day into a package.

Three things couples mention most. The one-week gallery guarantee, while most photographers take 4 to 8 weeks. Julie's planning support, meaning your timeline, vendor coordination, and photography schedule are handled without you managing them. And Will's background as a Google Creative on the Street View and Trusted Photographer programs, which shows up in how the images are built.

Yes, real 35mm film, and more of it every season. Film rides alongside full digital coverage, so you get the film look without betting your wedding day on a 40-year-old camera. Digital arrives within the week; film scans follow once the lab develops them. There is a whole page on how we shoot film at weddings.

It counts for a lot. Couples whose proposals we photographed get first pick of wedding dates before we open them to anyone else, and your proposal fee credits toward your wedding collection. Ask Julie about it, she keeps the list.

Only if you want to. Every collection includes a dedicated couples session on its own day: the day before, the day after, or earlier in your wedding week if you arrive early. You get back in your outfits, we shoot at your venue if they allow it or at a location we help you choose, and there is no clock running. On the wedding day itself that pressure is gone, and we spend the saved time photographing your family and friends actually enjoying themselves.

Perfect. We are timeline agnostic: it is your day, not our shot list. If you want recommendations on light and scheduling, Julie has plenty and they are good ones. If you already know what you want, we are good. We go with the flow either way.

We do. We regularly photograph weddings across Western North Carolina, including Hendersonville, Waynesville, Brevard, Black Mountain, and venues along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Travel within WNC is already built into our collections. We also take a small number of destination weddings each year. Call Julie for details.

Mountain weather changes its mind hourly and we have photographed in all of it. Light rain often makes the most dramatic photos of the day. If conditions turn severe, we adjust: covered spots, creative use of the venue, a revised portrait window. Julie watches the forecast all week and tells you the plan before you have to ask.

Full-day weddings typically produce 400 to 800+ edited images, every one individually color-corrected. We do not pad galleries with near-duplicates, and we do not deliver unedited files. Every image is in there because it says something about your day.

Yes. Engagement sessions are built into our wedding collections, and standalone sessions are available too. It is the best way to get comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding, and to figure out together how you photograph as a couple. Locations and planning details live on our Asheville engagement photography page.

As early as you can. We cap the number of weddings we take each year so every couple gets our full attention, which means October and late-spring Saturdays go 12 to 18 months out. If your date is set, call 828-243-2755 now and Julie will tell you in 30 seconds whether it is open.

If you need to reschedule, we move with you to a new date at no additional charge, subject to availability. Cancellation terms are spelled out plainly in the agreement. We do not punish couples for things outside their control.

Yes, and you should ask every photographer you interview for one. Highlight reels hide a lot. Julie will send complete galleries from weddings at venues or settings similar to yours so you can see what an entire delivery actually looks like.

Make Photography the Easy Part.

You have found the person. The venue hunt is brutal, the guest list is political, and the caterer wants answers. Photography is the one decision you can settle in a 15-minute phone call.

Julie picks up, checks your date on the spot, and tells you plainly whether we are the right fit.

Planning a surprise? Tell us your preferred contact method and timing and we will honor it.
